Offsite storage

The Offsite storage notice is an additional setting for the reservation function. It helps manage and anticipate item availability. This feature provides a warning on the reservation page in situations where the main location does not have enough items available, but additional items marked as reservable are available in offsite storage.

This feature can be activated for your organization by the Trail team: support@trail.fi.

How the feature works

  1. When a reservation is made and the main location does not have enough items, Trail automatically checks the availability in offsite storage.
  2. If reservable item is available in offsite storage, a notice will appear on the reservation page indicating that some of the items should be collected from offsite storage.

Enabling the feature

  1. Open Admin – Locations
  2. Open the location view and change its type to: Offsite storage

Creating a reservation

  1. Open Reservations - All reservations
  2. Create a new reservation
  3. Specify how many items of each model will be needed
  4. If the main location does not have enough items:
    1. The reservation page will display a red indicator with the status “Offsite”
    2. The available items' locations can be checked from the item list by searching for the model.
