Two-factor authentication (MFA)

Trail supports the use of two-factor authentication (MFA). As part of this, users must verify their identity using two or more methods before they can log into the system. This significantly improves security. If you would like MFA to be enabled in your Trail environment, please contact Trail support at support@trail.fi.

Two-factor authentication works in both the browser and the mobile app.

Once MFA has been activated for your Trail environment, the option will appear under "My profile". Each user can then enable MFA for themselves from there.

Activation of two-factor authentication:

  1. Go to: My Profile
  2. Under Two-Factor Authentication (OTP), click on: Configure
  3. A pop-up window will appear with a QR code and instructions on how to activate MFA using an authentication app such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. Please note that user must have an authentication app in use in order to enable MFA.
  4. Once the QR code has been successfully scanned, enter the six-digit code provided by the authenticator app into the field.
  5. Click Enable.

  1. You will receive a notification that two-factor authentication (OTP) is enabled, and this information will also be visible under My Profile.

Two-factor authentication (MFA) is required every time a user logs into the system. This also applies to the mobile app.

Logging into the system

  1. On Trail's login page, enter your username and password.
  2. Click Login.
  3. Enter your username and password again. You will receive the OTP code from your authentication app.
