Plan and reserve a specific item

Typically a reservation plan includes information of how many units of a certain model user will need. The exact item will be confirmed once the item is read out.

Alternatively, a specific item can be added to the reservation already during the planning phase. This means that when the reservation begins, the exact item planned for the reservation must be read out.

This method is excellent when you want to ensure that a specific individual item is definitely available — for example, a vehicle for teaching purposes or for a business trip.

Adding an individual item via the item list

  1. Open Items → All items
  2. Select the items you want to add to the reservation

  1. Click Add to reservation
  2. Select an existing reservation or create a new one

  1. The item has now been added to the reservation.
  2. When the reservation period begins, the item shown in the plan must be read out.
  3. If the reservation starts on the same day the plan is created, by default setting the item is read out automatically. A read-out item is indicated by the blue colour.

  1. Open Items → All items
  2. Open the item card
  3. Go to Reservation calendar
  4. Click Add to reservation
  5. Select an existing reservation or create a new one


  1. The item has now been added to the reservation.

⭐ Trail tip – Additional Setting

By default, if an item is added to a reservation that starts on the same day, the item is read out automatically.

If your organization creates multiple reservations for the same day (for example, a morning and an afternoon reservation), Trail offers an additional setting that allows you to define how many minutes before the reservation starts an item can still be added in planned status.
