Planning and reserving a specific item (mobile)
You can now plan and reserve a specific item directly from its item card in the Trail mobile app. You can either create a new reservation or add the item to an existing reservation.
This feature is useful when you need to reserve a particular item rather than planning first a quantity from needed model. If you want to reserve a quantity without selecting specific items in advance, create a regular reservation instead.
Note:
- By default, reserving a specific item from item card requires editor-level user rights.
- Users with reader rights can also reserve specific items, if your organization has enabled this setting separately. To enable it, please contact support@trail.fi.
How to reserve a specific item
- Open the Trail mobile app and find the item you want to reserve
- Open the item card
- Tap Reserve item
- Select one of the following options:
- New Reservation: Create a new reservation for the selected item
- Add to existing reservation: Add the selected item to a reservation that already exists
- Complete the reservation details and save
What happens to the reserved item?
The item's status depends on when the reservation starts:
- Reservation starts today: The item is automatically read out (Out) when the reservation is created (default setting)
- Reservation starts in the future: The item is added to the reservation as Planned
You can check the reservation status and item quantities from the reservation card in the mobile app.
Important: When a planned reservation begins, you must read out the exact same item that was originally planned. You cannot replace it with another item of the same model during read-out.
Tip – Additional setting for same-day reservations
By default, items added to reservations starting on the same day are automatically read out. Your organization can enable an additional setting that allows items to remain in Planned status until a specified time before the reservation begins.
