How to add items to Trail?

Adding items to Trail keeps your equipment details, locations, and history in one place.

Choose the method that fits how many items you need to add: use an Excel sheet for a larger batch, create individual items in the browser, or add an item on the go with the mobile app.

You can add items in three ways:

  1. Excel sheet — best for many items
    1. Ask Trail Support at support@trail.fi for an import sheet, fill it in, and return it to Support for import.
    2. Follow the Excel import sheet instructions for the required fields and steps
  2. Item list — best for a few items
    1. In Trail, go to Items → All items → Create new item.
    2. Select an existing model or create a new one, complete the item details, and save.
    3. You need Editor rights for the Items module.

  3. Mobile app — for items with an existing model
    1. In the mobile app, go to Menu → Items, tap + to start creating new item
    2. ❗When creating item through mobile, item's model must already exist in Trail. You cannot create new models.
